Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Job Summary

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for inspecting, identifying, & maintaining various environmental aspects per ISO 14001. It is imperative that the EHS Specialist maintain accurate & up-to-date reports, as well as a constant dedication to continuous OH&S improvements in accordance with ISO 45001

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibility

  • Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas of the facility to ensure compliance with government safety regulations, industry standards, and ISO 45001/14001.
  • Identify potentially hazardous biological, chemical, and radiological materials and collect samples if needed for analysis

  • Monitor all regulatory reporting that is required for compliance (i.e., EPA, OSHA, etc.)
  • Maintain all environmental reports, permits and recordkeeping requirements to operate the facility and on-site equipment
  • Manages IMDS with various OEMs

  • Recommend changes to protect workers and educate employees on how to prevent health problems using safety training programs
  • Work with department supervisor & managers to report incidents, spills and help identify their causes while finding ways to prevent them. Report findings to management on the root cause and corrective action. If retraining is required as part of the corrective action, the EHS Engineer will work with the department supervisor, manager on material and schedule
  • Complete and submit annual Tier II, EPA ID, and DOT Haz requirements
  • Review SPCC with external agencies and top management.

  • Create, review, and implement all health and safety programs in the company in accordance with ISO 45001/14001 standards
  • Is a source and contact for Safety Data Sheet (SDS) related questions. This is to include creation or modification of SDS for new or existing products.

  • Manage annual, onboarding, and monthly training regarding environment, health & safety for all employees in the company to ensure compliance and to exceed EHS goals

  • Update, review, and manage all aspects of the EAP, to include annual drills while coordinating with city and state regulatory agencies
  • In cooperation with Human Resources, manager Workers Comp program and ensure all preventative training is reviewed.

Qualifications

Education

Minimum Required:

  • Associate’s degree in occupational health, safety, or a related scientific field, such as chemistry, industrial hygiene, or engineering.

Preferred:

  • ISO 45001 / 14001 Management Systems

Experience

Minimum Required:

  • 3-5+ years experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment recommended.

Preferred:

  • 3-5+ years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, ISO accreditation process

  • Ability to communicate a wide scope of information with little to no confusion (Communication skills)
